A September 17 announcement has two future effective dates. Here is how to avoid confusing sticker price with the amount of tea you receive.

What changes, and when?
Ippodo’s September 17, 2026 notice covers its USA/Canada storefront and USD prices. Changes begin October 1 and November 1, both still ahead at our September 22 check. Other sellers and regions may differ.
Two examples worth separating
Selected announced changes: on October 1, the 10 × 2 g matcha travel packets rise from $20 to $23. On November 1, loose-leaf Hojicha changes from $16 for 100 g to $19 for 80 g.
Calculate a comparable unit cost
Dividing price by grams gives $0.16 versus $0.2375 for that Hojicha example: approximately 48.4% more per gram, compared with an 18.75% sticker-price increase. These are our calculations, excluding delivery and tax; they do not measure quality.
Does every matcha price change this fall?
The notice excludes core non-seasonal matcha from the fall increase except the travel packets. It plans core matcha adjustments for early next year without a final price schedule. Recheck the announcement before ordering.
Build a buying comparison you can reuse
Write one row per exact product and pack size: net amount, package price, delivery charge, currency and date checked. Compare totals for the basket you actually intend to order. Do not turn an announcement into a rush purchase
Before ordering extra stock, count what is already open and what you realistically expect to use. If switching teas, start with a quantity that lets you learn the product rather than matching the old package by appearance. Keep the order confirmation and label so you can distinguish packaging changes from a different tea. We have not tasted old and new batches or verified retailer inventories.
